The 2 Slot Liverpool Driving Bits are most common in driving; the reins attach to the shanks on either side and determine the level of snaffle or curb action as required. The lower the reins the more severe the bit.

The mullen mouth (straight bar) will not pinch the tongue, as there is no nutcracker action. The Liverpool driving bit's mouthpiece can also be reversed, depending on how severe you would like it to be, as one side is serrated and one side is smooth.
